Chimney Inspections

Ensure your fireplace, chimney and systems are operating at full capacity with a Canyon Chimney Sweep inspection. We offer CSIA Level I, II and III inspections. Recommended annually.

Service Description

The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) defines three levels of inspections to maintain the integrity of your chimney or heating system. At Canyon Chimney Sweeps, our standard inspection uses a multi-point assessment, and because of the array of heating systems in Big Sky and the Bozeman areas, we tailor the inspection to your chimney and your needs, and determine the level of inspection needed with you.

  • Level 1: A general inspection, mostly carried out annually or when your chimney is swept.

  • Level 2: A more detailed inspection for system changes such as new appliances, fuels, or during a real estate transaction.

  • Level 3: The most intensive inspection, performed when level 1 or 2 may suggest serious hazards

When is this Relevant?

As the doctor says, the best cure is prevention, and that is exactly what an inspection is for. Chimneys and heating systems in Bozeman get a lot of wear and tear (negative degrees are not kind to our homes).

When to Get your Chimney Inspected:

At a minimum, Canyon Chimney Sweeps recommends annual inspections. Additional circumstances include:

  • Home purchase or home sale

  • Property management change

  • Excess smoke from fireplace

  • Flame does not stay lit, or limited air flow to fireplace
