Roof Flashing Repair

The edges of your chimney may be the failure point when your roof begins to leak or there is excess moisture in your attic. Chimney flashing repairs prevent this failure point.

Service Description

Big Sky and Bozeman’s heavy winters can create significant wear and tear on chimneys, and freeze-thaw cycles tend to slowly degrade flashing, roofing material, and cause a leaking chimney or leaking roof. Canyon Chimney Sweep’s flashing repair alleviates these challenges before they begin, or mitigates the damage if your chimney has already begun to leak.

Our CSIA certified chimney sweep will conduct a thorough inspection of the flashing surrounding the chimney base (the portion of the chimney that meets your rooftop) to evaluate any damage, holes, or other possible causes for the leak, and ensure it is repaired properly and quickly to limit any future damage.

When is this Relevant?

During an annual chimney inspection, Canyon Chimney Sweep’s CSIA certified technicians will evaluate the condition of your chimney, the flashing, the chimney cap, the chimney crown, and when applicable, the brick or exterior of the chimney. At this time, we can recommend if your roof is in need of repair, if there was hail damage, signs of previous water infiltration, or other indicators that your flashing may have failed.

What if I haven’t gotten my chimney inspected?

We recommend annual chimney inspections, as well as pre-purchase home inspections to ensure that you are never surprised by an unexpected leak. However, any chimney leaks, dampness, or discoloration near your chimney signal a potential issue that demands prompt attention.

To prevent extensive damage, especially in regions like Big Sky and Bozeman with harsh winters, consider scheduling a chimney flashing repair as a preventive measure before the onset of the winter season.
