Chimney Leak Repair & Waterproofing

Big Sky, Montana is known for its strong snowfall and incredible skiing, but roofs here are notorious for leaking when it melts. Cracks or imperfections allow moisture to seep in and cause damage .

Service Description

During a chimney inspection, Canyon Chimney Sweep’s team of certified inspectors will look for signs of previous water damage, cracks in the mortar of brick chimneys, proper installation of the seals between the roof and your chimney or vent, and other damage. Repairs will vary based on the type of chimney, extent of water damage, and age of the existing system. Our goal is always to ensure that you understand the damage, and that we can provide you an affordable, high quality fix to prevent future leaks.

As added protection for chimneys that are brick or mortar, we may recommend adding waterproofing on to your chimney. Waterproofing is a special type of coating or paint that can be used to seal any of the porous surfaces. This prevents moisture from seeping into the imperfections in the chimney, expanding as it freezes and causing cracks and degradation. The waterproofing is often a solvent-based coating that fully cures, and can be transparent to not affect the appearance of your roof.

When is this Relevant?

When we conduct a chimney inspection we will determine if there is any current moisture, signs of leaking or damage, and recommend a repair.

If you live in Big Sky, Montana, and have a porous chimney (cinder block, natural stone, brick & mortar, etc) we recommend that waterproofing be applied. This helps prevent damage before it begins!
